Slams in your hand

Hi VJs ! If you are watching this video, you are already a visual enthusiast, hopefully checked out proper step by step learning of resolume arena 7. This might not be an ideal video for you if you’re just starting. Check out a great overview of Resolume Arena 7 here, and then add this quick trick, in your hand!

Hi, I am Zunayed Sabbir Ahmed, on behalf of We are VJ bangladesh, a small rising community of live visual artists ang light designers, based in Bangladesh. In this quick video, we will Midi map few slams on screen in our hand, in this case a sweet little Akai APC 25

We will continue the project we made in our previous video, and build on to that

If you haven’t seen that great trick yet, check it out here. In that project, we created a comfortable visual experience to start planning the show

Lets drop a solid

Lets change the color to white

Lets update the thumbnail to get less confused

Open solid color- In Opacity, lets change it to timeline

Lets turn it backwards

Its ok for now if its looping

Lets add envelope

Lets change the duration to .15

Lets change to play and hold

Lets make 5 Copies of this

Lets midi map these clips to these 5 keys from Akai APC 25

Lets MIDI map these two buttons to tempo double and half function

Note, fore now i’m mapping for these clips, but its ideal to use central composition mapping for this

After watching this video, i’m sure u can do it better than me!

now, remember we used slices of different size to map this project to this stage image?

We will use thos slices for this trick

We will also need a bunch of funky shaps to slam on to people

so we add another screen called- Slam Slices

Lets add few slams, in different shapes, Lets go faster for this section, remember to rename slices properly so that you dont get lost in digits

look for slices, if you cant find turn on slices from view menu, then you will find it

Remember our virtual display called simulation and remember i told you like ur grand pa’ about naming your items properly ?

Now that properly named slices shall come handy, drag them and drop them on the clip

Lets change the slice mode to mask

Lets do same for All

for the fifth clip, lets press CTRL to select multiple slices and drop on the clip, so we get two wings

Lets check out how our buttons respond

Cool! lets check out if we can control the duration of slam or not

yes!

Here’s some bonus tips that came free with this video!

Drop tint effects for color, you can map multiple buttons to multple color and pick the color of your slam!

You can use the entire thing as a mask layer to reveal one or all layers below

Make sure to put all the tints to white to get full benefit of masking

Your slice shapes are not limited to outputs you are using, you can make a virtual output for creating slice shapes

Here we’re calling our new screen – Slam Slices

Now we can use them as slices for our slam!

Caution! Wash your hands before slamming the stage!

If you have watched this video till this part, this says you’re a visual enthusiast like the people in our small uprising community called we are vj bagnladesh
